req: small images shoud'nt be resized

Postby mario » Fri Feb 13, 2009 11:02 pm

hi,

i'd like to see an optional feature:

[x] only "best fit" or "worst fit", large pictures.

small images shoud'nt be resized.

if i set up awc to "best/worst fit" images, the small pictures a resized to ugly pixelmonsters too 8-)
excluding small pictures (whatever small means) would be great.

I'll have to think about this one. There is already one solution in place to deal with the issue. I recognised early on that stretching small images can give ugly results so I added the Tile small pictures option. With this you can specify an image size, say 150x150, below which stretching does not take place and the image is tiled instead. Does this get around your problem?

not really, because i don't need/want the tiling feature at this point. (in other cases, i'd really like tiling. but if i cannot specify which files/foldes to tile, then tiled images doesnt look good all the time. maybe with some smoothing or edge-melting filters :-)) )

i choosed "no tiling" and "best fit" and a small image is blown up again to an ugly something 8-)

yeah, and its a good one.

but i'd love to have something like:

only apply to images which are bigger than [nn] pixels/hight/width,
because i have a lot of very small images, which look ugly, even if scaled to 110%, while usualy bigger pictures can be scaled to 150% or even 170% without a loss of visible quality.

Hi Steve,
do you mind think about this small addition to the existing feature?
